Practicum Series 2: Enhancing Speaking Skills in Entrepreneurship with Guest Lecturers and Students from the Philippines

Ciamis, November 6, 2025 — The Language and Literature Laboratory of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Galuh successfully held Practicum Series 2 with the theme “SPEAKING: How Valuable English Communication Skills in Entrepreneurship.” This event served as a practical learning platform aimed at developing students’ English-speaking competence within the context of global entrepreneurship.

The program invited two Guest Lecturers from STI West Negros University, PhilippinesDr. Yasmin Pascual Dormido, LPT and Dr. Salvador Sigaya Jr. Both lecturers delivered insightful discussions on the importance of English-speaking skills as a key asset for entrepreneurs in today’s era of business internationalization.

In addition to the lecturers, the event also featured two Guest Students from the same university — Kyrie Meliz Ferrer and Donna Marie Lamayo Alimpolo. Their participation added an international collaborative atmosphere and provided Universitas Galuh students with meaningful cross-cultural communication experiences.

In her opening remarks, the Head of the Language and Literature Laboratory of FKIP Universitas Galuh-Andi Rustandi, M.Pd inline with the home lecturers (Dr Leni Irianti and Etika Rachmawati, M,Pd) emphasized that the Practicum Series serves as a platform for students to enhance their practical speaking skills while understanding how English communication can become a valuable advantage in the entrepreneurial world.

Participants showed great enthusiasm during the interactive sessions, discussions, and direct communication practices with the guests from the Philippines. Through this activity, students were encouraged not only to improve their fluency in English speaking but also to comprehend its practical application in business and global entrepreneurship contexts.

The Practicum Series 2 is part of the ongoing program of the Language and Literature Laboratory, FKIP Universitas Galuh, which focuses on enhancing students’ English competence through practical learning, international collaboration, and intercultural engagement.
