International Practicum Series 8 to Highlight Language Preservation and Local Wisdom in Southeast Asia

Ciamis, Indonesia – The Language and Literature Laboratory of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Galuh, in collaboration with STI West Negros University, is set to organize the International Practicum Series 8 on Tuesday, 14 April 2026. This academic event reflects the ongoing partnership between the two institutions in promoting global engagement in education, research, and cultural exchange.

Carrying the theme “Language Preservation and Local Wisdom in Indigenous Communities in Southeast Asia,” the program aims to explore the crucial role of language in maintaining cultural identity and sustaining indigenous knowledge systems across the region. The event will bring together scholars, educators, and students to discuss challenges, strategies, and innovations in preserving linguistic diversity amid globalization.

The practicum will feature distinguished speakers from both institutions. Dr. Yasmin Pascual Dormido, LPT, from STI West Negros University, will share her insights on language education and cultural sustainability. She will be joined by Dr. Li Bambang Rubi Sugiarto, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., Andi Rustandi, M.Pd., from the English Education Study Program, and Dr. Asep Hidayatulloh from the Indonesian Language Education Study Program of Universitas Galuh. Each speaker is expected to contribute perspectives grounded in their academic expertise and regional experiences.

This international practicum series serves as a platform for academic exchange and collaborative learning, particularly in addressing the urgent need to safeguard indigenous languages and local wisdom in Southeast Asia. It also reinforces the commitment of both Universitas Galuh and STI West Negros University to fostering intercultural understanding and strengthening educational networks across borders.
