The Language and Literature Laboratory of FKIP Universitas Galuh Goes International
CIAMIS, December 2, 2025 — The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Galuh Ciamis has officially signed an Implementation Agreement (IA) with three faculties from STI West Negros University, Philippines: the College of Education, the College of Business Management and Accountancy, and the College of Arts and Sciences. This international collaboration focuses on two main programs: the International Practicum and Joint Lecture. The agreement was signed on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, and represented by the deans of each institution. From FKIP Universitas Galuh, the agreement was signed by Dr. Asep Amam, S.Pd., M.Pd. Meanwhile, from STI West Negros University, the agreement was signed by Dr. Mimma Villanueva (Dean of the College of Business Management and Accountancy), Dr. Sharon Rose Medez (Dean of the College of Arts), and Dr. Democrito Juyamao (Dean of Education Sciences).
This collaboration was initiated by the Language and Literature Laboratory of Universitas Galuh, led by Andi Rustandi, M.Pd., in partnership with Dr. Yasmin Pascual Dormido, LPT, Director of International Linkages at STI West Negros University. The laboratory has consistently played an active role in establishing international academic connections, particularly through the International Practicum Series, which has been conducted regularly. This program routinely invites academics and practitioners from various countries, including STI West Negros University, to enrich the perspectives of students in the English Education and Indonesian Language Education study programs.
The signing of the IA coincided with the 4th International Practicum Series, featuring Dr. Nieves Vaz H. Pepito, Head of the Communication Program at STI West Negros University, as the keynote speaker. Additional speakers included representatives from the English Education Study Program (Dr. R. Bunga Febriani, S.S., M.Hum and Lilles Youlia F., S.S., M.Pd.BI) and the Indonesian Language Education Study Program (Dr. Andri Noviadi and Sirodjul Munir, Drs., M.M). On this occasion, Dr. Pepito delivered a presentation titled: “International Practicum Series 4: Teaching Local Wisdom Through Literature in the Classroom in Southeast Asia.” The presentation highlighted the importance of integrating local wisdom into literature teaching in Southeast Asian classrooms, emphasizing its relevance in strengthening cultural identity while enhancing students’ global literacy competence.
With the establishment of this Implementation Agreement, the Dean of FKIP stated that FKIP Universitas Galuh and STI West Negros University are committed to expanding academic collaboration through teaching practice exchanges, joint lectures, capacity building for lecturers and students, as well as various cross-border academic activities. This strategic partnership is expected to serve as a significant step in supporting the internationalization of education, strengthening student competencies, and opening broader opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions in the future.
