English Education Students of Universitas Galuh Conduct Micro Teaching Practicum in EYL Course
Ciamis, November 2025 — Third-year students of the English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Galuh, successfully carried out their practicum activity in the Micro Teaching course, focusing on English for Young Learners (EYL). The practicum was held in the Micro Teaching Laboratory of FKIP Universitas Galuh and attended by all sixth-semester students.The activity aimed to provide students with hands-on teaching experience before they enter real classroom situations during their teaching internships. Through this practicum, students practiced various teaching techniques suitable for young learners, including the use of songs, games, storytelling, and visual aids.During the practicum sessions, each student took turns acting as a teacher, while their peers played the role of young learners. The sessions were supervised by the EYL course lecturer, who provided guidance, constructive feedback, and evaluation on students’ teaching performance.
According to the course instructor, Ms. Bunga Febriani, this activity is a crucial part of teacher preparation. “Micro teaching allows students to reflect on their teaching style, improve classroom management, and design engaging learning activities for children,” she explained.One of the students, Anju, expressed that the practicum was both challenging and rewarding. “Teaching young learners requires creativity and patience. This practicum really helped me understand how to make English learning fun and meaningful for children,” she said. Through this Micro Teaching practicum, the English Education students of Universitas Galuh demonstrated their enthusiasm and readiness to become professional and creative English teachers, especially in teaching young learners.
